Chrome plating or decorative bright chrome is a thin layer of chromium over nickel and copper. It generally comes out as mirror like finish to items such as metal car parts and metal furniture.
Nickel plating provides a bright, decorative finish which improves corrosion and wear resistance.
Phosphating is a chemical process which reacts with the metal to create a porous crystalline coating of zinc, iron or manganese. Due to the comparatively high porosity, phosphate coatings are often utilised in relation with oils, paint or varnishes.
